cabinets, counters, confusion: the three Cs of real estate

I'm supposed to be making all these decisions about what I want in my place, but I am freaking out. HELP, loyal blog buddies!

Do you like white cabinets? Like this one?

Or with slats?

Or do you prefer black, with a "rustic finish"?

Should I go flat

or slightly embellished

or even more embellished?

I prefer the black and the slightly embellished one. The slats are nice, but so much gunk can collect in that in a kitchen - honestly the simpler the better, IME.

FLAT! Ignore Emily. She doesn't know what she's talking about. Flat is the way to go. No grooves to make cleaning annoying, sleek looking, very chic.

I like the embellished one. I think it goes best with the unfinished look of the exposed brick. I have grooves in my kitchen cabinets, and thanks to the advent of Clorox wipes/other wipes, they are simple to keep clean.

I dig the black as well, a lot. However, you might want to consider something simpler, if only for resale appeal. I also like the maple flat front and I think they might be more 'salable.'

I'm so jealous you are picking out cabinets. My old kitchen bites.

the lighter is whats considered"in" because it makes the kitchen look bigger. I like the slats, thats depending where you are. usually beachy places do that because its nauticle. But, again, Its all personal....Im in the same boat...It is hard
